Instructive, but ultimately of limited help

While the theory in this book is very thorough and well explained, I found, after taking the actual literature subject test today, that little to none of the technical terms that this book's practice tests seemed to emphasise on helped me.
The questions in the Barron's book are very technically heavy and pointed, making them harder to answer than the questions on the real SAT test. I cannot even say that drilling these difficult questions improved my performance on the SAT, as they required an entirely different skill set.
This book did prepare met to take the test to some extent, but not to that in which the price was worth it. I would not really recommend this book unless you are burning to discover the precise difference in between synecdoche and metonymy,
If you're already an avid reader, review your literary devices, download a few free practice tests online, and it can be good enough. I don't see how this book could up your score if it isn't.
Edit: I just got the scores back. With the Barron's practice tests, I never broke the 700s, but I scored in the upper 90th percentile in the actual test. Something's amiss here
